Many magicians like to point out that an audience doesn't care how difficult a trick is; they want to be entertained. That's true. They then, however, draw a strange conclusion from this observation. They conclude that this means you should always use the easiest method. How difficult a trick is becomes the most important factor determining whether they'll perform it. In other words, the one factor that is the least important to the audience becomes the most important to the magician.
